Introduction

DreamScribe is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS app. DreamScribe is developed by SriniApps, an individual developer based in Sweden.

Information We Collect

Voice Recordings

DreamScribe uses your device's microphone to record voice memos of your dreams. Voice recordings are processed for transcription and then permanently deleted from your device. We do not store audio files on our servers. Only the text transcript is retained.

Dream Transcripts and Readings

Your dream transcripts, generated readings, symbol profiles, and archetype information are stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore). This data is associated with an anonymous user identifier — we do not require your name, email, or any personally identifying information to use the app.

Analytics Data

We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage analytics, including screen views, feature usage, and session data. This helps us improve the app experience. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics data.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to DreamScribe Oracle (our premium tier), your subscription is managed entirely by Apple through the App Store and by RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your payment information. We only receive confirmation of your subscription status.

How We Process Your Data

Transcription

Voice recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper service via our secure server (Firebase Cloud Functions) for speech-to-text transcription. The audio is processed in transit and is not stored by OpenAI after transcription is complete.

Reading Generation

Dream transcripts are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to generate personalized dream readings. Your transcript, archetype, and symbol history are sent to generate each reading. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models.

Photos Library

If you choose to save a reading card, DreamScribe requests permission to add images to your Photos library. We only write to your Photos — we never read or access your existing photos.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure, which provides:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified data centers
  • Automatic backups and redundancy

Your account uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication. Your data is keyed to a random identifier, not to any personal information.

Data Retention

Your dream transcripts, readings, and symbol profile are retained as long as you use the app. Voice recordings are deleted immediately after transcription. If you wish to have your data deleted, please contact us and we will remove all data associated with your anonymous identifier.

Third-Party Services

DreamScribe uses the following third-party services:

  • Google Firebase — Authentication, data storage, and server functions
  • OpenAI (Whisper) — Voice-to-text transcription
  • Anthropic (Claude) — Dream reading generation
  • RevenueCat — Subscription management
  • PostHog — Anonymized usage analytics

Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Children's Privacy

DreamScribe is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last updated” date on this page.
